A Note From Your President…

Nancy Quinlisk

With the Grand Board of Directors approving the funds to bring the architect and other professionals on board, we are officially able to move forward into the Design Phase of Large Project Development. We are told the architect is still working on a concept plan and our project manager, Ken Feldman, has assured the Large Project Team that the architect has the documents each club prepared relating to the club’s needs and potential floor plan. We have also been told we will have an opportunity to meet with the architect soon. This will be an important step in defining the possibilities. Hopefully, within the next month or so we can have a better picture of what our maximum square footage will look like as we work toward our opportunity to grow becomes a reality.

Thank you again for the support shown at the June 27th board meeting and for your comments and feedback on the various components of the expansion. We appreciate your input.

Enjoy your summer, wherever you are!

We hope everyone is having a fun and safe summer!
We do want to remind everyone to be vigilant when it comes to any "suspect" email you might receive.  There are unscrupulous individuals out there who try to trick folks into sending money or sharing personal/financial information.
Please remember to...
  • Be wary of any email that "just doesn't seem right".
  • Look at  the email address of the sender, not just the name of the sender.
  • Be very wary of requests for money or other financial information, and do not engage in any exchange of info.
  • Do not open attachments, unless you are sure what they are.
Grand Clay Arts website takes careful precautions to keep data and emails secure.  No personal financial information is stored in the GCA database.
If you do have concerns, contact webmaster@grandclayarts.com; we will always try to help.

Education

Cindy Wright

Share your talent!  We are always looking to offer new and different classes to our membership. So if you believe you might have something to share, that could be turned into a class, please let us know. It could be a specific skill or process, like making coil pots, slab work, graphic techniques for decorating pots, a unique glazing process, etc. Or a piece that you make like flowers, snowmen, wall art, etc that your peers might like to learn to make.

The process to develop a class is easy and Cindy Wright can walk you through it. So just reach out via email (cindywrightm@gmail.com) if you’d like to walk through the possibility of sharing something with your fellow Clay Arts Members. We can even entertain bringing in guest teachers if there is someone you know that could bring something new to the club.

I hope everyone is having a creative summer.

Supply Director

Hello again everyone,

From near and far, in Grand and away, I certainly hope that you are all enjoying your summer so far.

Pictures attached from our adventures here in our home in Tofino,  on the west coast of Canada.
*Our view, which never gets tiresome. *Fresh caught Opal squid, makes delicious calamari. *My 18 pound wild Chinook salmon that I caught.  Life is wonderful!

I am just going to keep this brief, as I just want you all to know how very much I miss you all and the friendship of our many club members.
I also want to give a big shout of appreciation out to Beckie Alexander for the wonderful work that she is doing keeping up with supplies for all of our members who are fortunate enough to continue to enjoy our wonderful club throughout the summer months. Thank you Beckie!!  Please continue to place your special orders and requests on the order sheet located on the board near the glaze room. Beckie will do her best to get the items for you when available.

Stay safe, stay cool and have a wonderful summer.
