A Note from Your President

Nancy Quinlisk

Communications are short and sweet this month ...

Seasonal Resident Members
D
o not forget to:

  1. Remove all cubby items and wipe out cubby before you leave.
  2. Physically remove your items from the gallery and remove them online.
  3. Give hugs before you leave and let us know when you will return!

Year Round Members

  1. You can leave items in your cubby and on the gallery if you would be available to clear them out, should we start construction before fall.
  2. When monitoring for the summer, it is acceptable for you to also work in the studio if you can do so at the large table immediately adjacent to the check-in area.

Expansion

We are currently in the design phase for the building renovation. This means we should soon have conceptual drawings to review. Watch for updates via eBlasts.

Kiln/s Update

We are in a hold pattern on purchasing new kilns (to replace #3 and 4) until we know how soon construction might start. If we wait, improved electrical service in the new facility will allow installation of Skutt production level kilns.

Happy Spring to All!

Sunshine Group

Cathy Rick

Do you know a club member who could use some kind words from fellow members?
If so, please submit a name and brief description of the member's situation to our Sunshine Coordinator.  You'll find a link on our Homepage "Sunshine Request". We ask that you be sensitive to what information is shared via the submission out of respect and confidentiality.

A special card will be placed in the club with a brief note indicating who it is for and what the situation is.  We ask that all club members consider signing the cards so that there's a full card of well wishes to mail to our teammate. Cards are often sent for someone who has a health issue, having surgery, dealing with a challenging family situation or bereavement.

We extend a sincere THANKS to Sharon Rothzeid, Sunshine Coordinator who processes requests.

Gallery News

Sherri Singer and Karen LeMar

We have a new policy set up for this summer for the gallery. Artists who are here during the summer months may now put up to eight pieces in the gallery.  In mid September, please remove from online and in studio all art that exceeds the original five piece rule. We will then go back to a two month limit and five pieces per artist. This will allow us the room we need for new art coming in when the snowbirds arrive back.

Another BIG reminder… if you are leaving for the summer you must remove all of your art from the online and in studio gallery.  The reason for this is, should there be any reason to close the studio and/or the Gallery, members will be notified and expected to retrieve their pieces as soon as possible.

We'd like to stress the importance of double-checking your submissions. Please make sure the title and price on the submission matches the info on the tag.  This is critical to identify the correct piece at the time of a sale.

Also very important is to include good photos with your submissions.  Since the Gallery is an online site accessible by anyone, we want to show off our talents in the best light.  Also, the photos are critical to the operation of the in-studio displays and sales.  The in-studio team uses the photos to confirm inventory, and the monitors use the photos to confirm a sale.

For tips on taking good photos, there are a couple of good resources:
1. The Artists' Guide to the Gallery has a section on photo-taking, along with some examples.  Click HERE to view the document.
2. Jake Reimers is available to assist with photo-taking. "Shoot" him an email if you'd like some Handy Tips from Jake!  jjreimers45@outlook.com

Thanks so much for your attention to these topics, and we wish you all a great summer!

Monitor Sign-up Process Change
A new feature has been added to Monitor Sign-up Calendar.  When you sign up for a timeslot, you will only be able to sign up for the first available slot, in chronological order. This is to ensure that there is a hand-off from timeslot to timeslot throughout the day.

Therefore...
If you are the first member to sign up on a given day, the only timeslot available to you will be the 8:50am slot.  If you are the second member to sign up for a given day, the only option available to you will be the 11:50am slot. Likewise for the third timeslot.
